Here are some of my most commonly asked questions… Don’t see what you’re looking for?  Feel free to send me a message!

Where are you located?
I’m located in Pembroke, Maine in beautiful Washington County and service the surrounding Machias, Lubec, Eastport & Calais areas!

How far in advance should I book?
I’m a part time photographer and schedule one session per week.  Generally, you should book your sessions 2-3 months in advance (possibly further out for the fall months – which tend to book fast!).  For weddings (or to ensure a specific date or time frame), I recommend 6-12 booking months in advance.   Maternity sessions should be photographed when Mama is between 28-34 weeks along.  Newborns should ideally be 4-11 days old.  Please be sure to schedule those well in advance!

How do I book a session with you?
Send me a message via my Contact Form.  We’ll come up with a date, time & place that works for both of us.  I’ll send you my retainer & photography agreement info which you’ll fill out & pay – and you’ll be all set!

Is there a time of day that’s best for photographs?
Absolutely!  I prefer to shoot about 1-1/2 to 2 hours before sunset when the sunlight is nice and soft!

What do I wear?
Once you’ve booked your session, we can begin planning!  I’ll find out what look you want and send you clothing ideas and tips!  Your location choice and clothing colors & style should be something that fits your home style as that’s where your final artwork will be displayed.

What happens if it rains on the day of my scheduled outdoor session?
Weather happens – and I’m happy to be flexible for you.  We can either shoot the session indoors with studio lighting or we can reschedule it to another day.  I try to reschedule as soon as possible – usually within a few days.  It’s your choice !

What if something happens to you?
Let’s hope something doesn’t happen – because that would be bad!  However, in the event that I am unable to photograph your portrait session you will receive a full refund.  For weddings, I always shoot with a 2nd photographer.  My contract would transfer to my 2nd photographer who would then become the primary photographer.  He or she will have a list of emergency contacts they can call to be their 2nd photographer.

Do you have back up equipment?
You bet!  I have a a primary camera & two back up cameras.  I also have extra lenses, flash, sd cards, batteries, etc.  No need to worry – I’ve got you covered!

Are you insured?
Absolutely!  Not only for my sake, but for my client’s sake as well.

Do I get every picture you take?
You’ll notice I click that shutter a lot – sometimes 3 or 4 of the same exact pose – especially with groupings of multiple people.  No, I don’t give every photo I take.   I omit any pictures that have blinking eyes, odd expressions (if someone spoke or looked away just when I clicked the shutter), etc.  I choose the best of each pose and edit it to perfection just for you!

Do you remove acne, etc.?
I do!  I remove any acne, cuts, mosquitoes (because sometimes it’s buggy out), etc.  I don’t remove scars, moles, birthmarks, etc. unless specifically asked at an additional cost.  I soften wrinkles slightly.    I try to keep the edits as natural  & true to yourself as possible.

Do I get the RAW/unedited files?
RAW/unedited files are not available for viewing or purchase.  Each chosen photo is edited to reflect my high photography standards and are delivered in JPEG format.  Any photos not up to my standards are not archived.

What products should I get when I have my viewing & ordering appointment?
My primary goal is to ensure that you LOVE your photos and for you to be able to display them in a way that .  I have a range of products for any budget – from prints to canvas to albums.  Let me know how you’d like to display them and I’ll custom design something just for you!  Take a peek at some of my designs!

When will I receive my photos?
I take 1-2 weeks to edit session photos (4-6 weeks for weddings).  We’ll set up a viewing & ordering appointment within a few days after the editing is done.  Once your order has been placed – prints are back within a few days. Albums take 1-2 weeks for designing, once the client approves the album it’s back within a few days.  Canvas takes 2-3 weeks.
